The low level of farmers' knowledge and skills in plant breeding techniques is a major obstacle to improving the productivity and competitiveness of local agricultural commodities. The methods used in this activity include theoretical counseling, field demonstrations, hands-on practical training, and post-training mentoring for 40 participating farmers. The training materials covered superior variety selection techniques, plant hybridization, seed propagation, and technology-based agribusiness management. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge by 72.5% based on pre-test and post-test results, an increase in technical skills of 68.3%, and the formation of an innovative farmer group that actively applies plant breeding techniques on their farm land. This program makes a real contribution to strengthening the capacity of local agricultural human resources and supporting sustainable agribusiness development at the rural level.
Muharmansyah Sikumbang, Eka Bobby Febrianto, Junaidi Junaidi, Suhendri Suhendri, Zulham Zulham Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Hablum Minannas https://ejournal.steitholabulilmi.ac.id/index.php/jpkmhm/article/view/1059 Mon, 30 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 EDUCATION ON SELF-DECLARED HALAL CERTIFICATION AS A STRATEGY TO ENHANCE THE COMPETITIVENESS OF STUDENT-RUN BUSINESS PRODUCTS AT THE UNIVERSITAS PEMBINAAN MASYARAKAT INDONESIA https://ejournal.steitholabulilmi.ac.id/index.php/jpkmhm/article/view/1061
The rapid growth of Indonesia's halal industry requires business actors to meet halal certification standards as a prerequisite for product competitiveness. Student entrepreneurs at Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia (UPMI) Medan face challenges due to limited understanding of the halal Self Declare certification mechanism, particularly through the SI-HALAL system managed by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). This community service activity aims to enhance halal literacy, strengthen understanding of Self Declare procedures, and encourage student readiness to apply for halal certification for their products. The implementation method employed a participatory approach through three stages: preparation (coordination, material development, and participant selection), implementation (pre-test, material presentation, discussion, and SI-HALAL form simulation), and evaluation (post-test and satisfaction survey). The activity was attended by 40 student entrepreneurs from the Faculty of Economics, UPMI Medan. Results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding, with the average pre-test score of 42.5% increasing to 88.75% in the post-test. Participant satisfaction reached 95% in the satisfied and very satisfied categories. It is concluded that halal Self Declare certification education effectively improves halal literacy among student entrepreneurs and encourages their readiness to apply for halal certification as a strategy for increasing product competitiveness in broader markets.
Reza Nurul Ichsan, Dewi Suma, Budi Alamsyah Siregar, Rahmah Firmania Fardani, Suhat Mansyah Sikumbang Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Hablum Minannas https://ejournal.steitholabulilmi.ac.id/index.php/jpkmhm/article/view/1061 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000 THE ROLE OF UMRAH TRAVEL IN SUPPORTING THE INDONESIAN ECONOMY: EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM AT PT AL KAUTSAR MEDAN https://ejournal.steitholabulilmi.ac.id/index.php/jpkmhm/article/view/1073
The umrah travel industry is one of the strategic sectors in Indonesia's economy that significantly contributes to national income, employment absorption, and the development of sharia-based economics. Data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) records thousands of digital-based violence cases against children annually, yet the digital legal literacy of the community in addressing these issues remains very low. This community service activity was carried out by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Sumatra Utara (FH UISU) with the aim of improving participants' digital legal literacy, providing in-depth understanding of children's rights in digital spaces, forms of cyberbullying and cybercrime, as well as reporting mechanisms and law enforcement. The implementation method used a participatory approach through three stages: preparation (needs survey, coordination, and material development), implementation (legal lectures, Focus Group Discussion, case simulation, legal consultation, and digital education), and evaluation. The activity was attended by 50 participants consisting of high school students, university students, parents, teachers, and the general public. Pre-test and post-test results showed an average improvement in participants' understanding of 49.6 percentage points (from 34.7% to 84.3%), with a participant satisfaction rate of 94%. This activity effectively improved participants' digital legal literacy, ability to identify cyberbullying, and understanding of cybercrime reporting mechanisms as an effort to build a safe and responsible digital culture for child protection.
Muhammad Ansori Lubis, Elizabeth Ghozali, Yusuf Hanafi Pasaribu, Indra Gunawan Purba, Syawal Amry Siregar Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Hablum Minannas https://ejournal.steitholabulilmi.ac.id/index.php/jpkmhm/article/view/1072 Mon, 30 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0000
