Peer Review Process

Jurnal Ilmiah Metadata is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication quality through a rigorous, fair, objective, and transparent double-blind peer review process. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is evaluated solely on its scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, significance, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope, regardless of the authors' institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or personal background.

Initial Manuscript Evaluation

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening conducted by the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Section Editor. During this stage, the manuscript is assessed to determine whether it:

  • Fits the journal's focus and scope;
  • Complies with the author guidelines and journal formatting requirements;
  • Demonstrates sufficient originality and novelty;
  • Meets acceptable standards of academic writing;
  • Adheres to publication ethics and research integrity;
  • Passes plagiarism screening using similarity detection software.

The initial editorial evaluation is generally completed within 1–3 weeks. Manuscripts that do not satisfy these preliminary requirements may be rejected without external review (desk rejection). Manuscripts that meet the editorial standards proceed to the peer-review stage.

Double-Blind Peer Review

All eligible manuscripts are reviewed using the double-blind peer review method, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise in the relevant subject area. If necessary, the Editorial Board may invite additional reviewers to obtain further evaluations or resolve differences in reviewer recommendations.

The peer-review process normally requires 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Originality, novelty, and contribution to scientific knowledge;
  • Relevance to the journal's focus and scope;
  • Clarity of research objectives and problem formulation;
  • Appropriateness and rigor of research methodology;
  • Accuracy of data analysis and interpretation;
  • Validity and significance of research findings;
  • Consistency between results, discussion, and conclusions;
  • Adequacy and relevance of references;
  • Compliance with ethical standards in research and publication;
  • Overall organization, clarity, and scientific quality of the manuscript.

Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations intended to improve the quality of the manuscript. Language editing and copyediting are not considered part of the peer-review process.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' reports, the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Editor makes one of the following editorial decisions:

  • Accept without revision;
  • Accept with minor revisions;
  • Reconsider after major revisions;
  • Reject.

Where necessary, the Editorial Board may seek additional expert opinions before reaching a final decision. The final decision regarding publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief and is based on the scientific quality and reviewers' recommendations.

Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests are expected to revise their manuscripts carefully by addressing all reviewer comments and submitting a detailed response explaining how each comment has been accommodated.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation before a final publication decision is made.

Confidentiality and Publication Ethics

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmiah Metadata are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose, distribute, or use any unpublished materials for personal advantage.
