Abstract

The existence of Witnesses and Victims is very important in disclosing criminal acts in the criminal justice process. Therefore, Witnesses and Victims are given protection at all stages of the criminal justice process. Provisions regarding protected legal subjects in Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims. The regulation of legal protection for witnesses and victims in protecting witnesses of murder crimes is regulated in Law Number 31 of 2014. The responsibility of LPSK must protect witnesses and victims from threats, in addition to regulating the authority and responsibility. The Law on Protection of Witnesses and Victims also explains the requirements and procedures for providing protection and assistance. The mechanism for protecting witnesses and victims of murder crimes, then witnesses and/or victims must submit an application to meet the requirements determined by LPSK. Especially for Richard Eliezer as a justice collaborator who is considered consistent and honest, revealing the real facts that occurred at the crime scene, so that Richard Eliezer's testimony is very important in this case, because all other witnesses and suspects are inconsistent in providing information and that reduces the level of public trust and the panel of judges.
